Performing Arts students have the time of their lives

Academy for Theatre Arts students were the first in the country to take part in the new Dirty Dancing musical experience in Manchester.

The Academy for Theatre Arts, which delivers a fully funded Extended National Diploma in Performing Arts in partnership with Newcastle-under-Lyme College, were chosen to take part in the new Dirty Dancing workshop prior to watching the production at the Palace Theatre in Manchester on 1 December.

The students took part in a four hour workshop working with the shows cast and musicians which culminated in a performance of, The Playhouse, Kellermans and Time of My Life.

The students are already fortunate to have Shona Lindsay, who plays the part of Marjorie Housman in the production, as one of their musical theatre tutors. The students are familiar with Shona’s talent and professionalism but for most of them it will be the first time they have seen her on stage.

This is the first national tour of Dirty Dancing, the show is receiving rave reviews and the students have had…the time of their lives!
